Lab Schedule

In this laboratory, you will investigate the behavior of chromosomes during meiosis. You will see how gametes are formed and observe how sexual reproduction is the means for genetic variation.

Answer the questions below and in the "For further thought..." section to better prepare you for the laboratory session.

Count the number of chromatids in the homologous pair to the left..

How many chromatids are in each chromosome?

How many are in each homologous pair?

In what phase would you place the configuration of the chromosomes to the right?

In what phase of meiosis would you place the chromosomes to the left?

For Further Thought.....

In a cell with 23 homologous pairs of chromosomes, how many chromosomes would be found in each sperm cell?

  1. 46
  2. 23
  3. 37
  4. 48

If you are studying 2 homologous pairs of chromosomes, and each pair is heterozygous, how many differnt types of gametes can be produced?

  1. 1
