DRAWING MATERIALS LIST    ART 204/205

DRY MEDIA
     *Pencils -2H, HB, 2B, 4B, 6B drawing pencils
     *Eraser - White plastic (staedtler)
     *Vine Charcoal- package of soft vine charcoal
     *Compressed Charcoal - one stick
     *Conte Crayon - soft 4b or 2b in black and white

WET MEDIA
One small tube each of white and black gouache paint (14 ml Winsor and Newton brand)
              or
1 tube each Black and White acrylic paint and brushes

PAPER
     *1 pad 18 x 24" 70 LB drawing paper (Strathmore 400 series is good) Do not use Newsprint
     4 sheets charcoal/pastel paper (Canson Mi Tientes brand is available at the Skyline College Bookstore)
     Sketchpad for daily practice. Spiral or bound, at least 8 x 10"

GENERAL
     *Drafting tape
     *Paper towels or rag for blending charcoals and pencils
     *Portfolio - to hold drawings, at least 20 x 27" (homemade or bought)
     Tin can or bottle for water and washes
     Paintbrushes - for inks and washes, watercolor brushes work well
     Blending Stump

OPTIONAL MATERIALS - DRY MEDIA
     
Pad Charcoal paper
     Eraser- Kneaded rubber
     Color pencils
     Pastels
     Chalks, especially whites and grays
     charcoal pencils
     Workable Fixative

OPTIONAL MATERIALS - WET MEDIA
     India ink, Sepia ink
     drawing pens for use with India inks.
     Other drawing tools- look around for felt tip pens, ball-point pens, etc.Bamboo ink pen

OPTIONAL MATERIALS - GENERAL
     Drawing Board - at least 19 x 25" (optional)  inexpensive boards     high quality boards
     Ruler
     Pencil sharpener (inexpensive type)
     Compass
     Chamois

There are lockers available outside the classroom. Students must provide their own locks.
To claim a locker for the semester, you must put a lock on it and fill out a locker card.
