Michelle M. Brown is an Associate Professor of Broadcast & Electronic Media in CSM's Technology Division. She teaches TV studio techniques, video field production, producing, talent, and courses in media and society. She has over twelve years of professional experience in TV and video production, including work as director of photography, editor, scriptwriter and producer for corporate, documentary and commercial productions. Past corporate clients include Intel, PeopleSoft, and Dow.

Michelle was an adjunct faculty member in the Broadcast department at San Francisco State University where she taught advanced TV studio, field production, and advanced video classes. She also taught multimedia practice at the Art Institute of California at San Francisco and non-linear editing at Academy of Art University San Francisco. She earned her master's degree in broadcasting from SFSU and bachelor's from Central Michigan University’s Broadcast & Cinematic Arts Dept.

 

Her current creative projects include the production of a series of cinematic poems (cinepoetry.com) with poet LaDonna Witmer (watch our cinepoems at ladonnawitmer.com). The entry “TwoFaced” won the 2006 & 2007 Grand Festival Award in the Arts category at the Berkeley Video and Film Festival. “The Way She Walks” received the 2006 Female Filmmaker Award at The Poppy Jasper shorts festival in Morgan Hill, CA.

Michelle is also an accomplished voiceover artist whose voice can be heard in various productions around the globe. Voiceover clients have included: Mancini's Sleepworld, AOL for Broadband, Cisco Systems, Shutterfly, UCSF and more.

 

Michelle relaxes by watching TV, reading, and listening to music. A Michigan native, she loves ice hockey - go Red Wings!!!
