A. Forceps and scalpels used to handle animal and plant tissues are disinfected by dipping the working end in alcohol.

Then briefly touch the flame to ignite the alcohol.

B. Immediately remove the instrument from the flame and let the alcohol burn off. Keep the instrument pointed down.
