ANOTHER BULLDOG IN THE MAJOR LEAGUES

CSM assistant Coach Bill Duplissea was recently hired by the Kansas City Royals as the major league bullpen catcher. Coach "Dup" played for CSM in 1997-98 before transferring on to U.C. Santa Barbara. Dup then signed with the Los Angeles Dodgers and was in their minor league system for 6 years, reaching as high as Triple-A. Dup then joined the CSM coaching staff and for the past 3 years was instrumental in developing the Bulldog catchers and hitters.

While with the Royals, Dup's responsibilities will include organizing pre-game batting practice, warming up pitchers during the game and working with the young Royals catchers. The Bulldog players and coaches will miss Dup, but he has promised that he will be back in the fall to work with the Bulldogs for the 2007 season.

Dup will work with another former Bulldog, Bob McClure. McClure played for CSM in 1972, 73 before beginning what became a 19-year career as a left-handed pitcher in the "Big Leagues." McClure finished his playing career and returned to CSM in 1999 and 2000 as the Bulldogs pitching coach. McClure then accepted an offer to become a minor league pitching coach with Colorado. After 5 years with the Rockies, "Mac" was offered the Major League Pitching Coach position with the Kansas City Royals for the 2006 season.

2002, 03 CSM graduate Scott Feldman made his major league debut in August of 2005, only 2 years after pitching for the Bulldogs. Feldman spent the final weeks of the 2005 season on the major league roster. In that time Feldman had 8 appearances, 9 1/3 innings, 1 run, 4 strikeouts, and an ERA of 0.96. Feldman is hoping to make the Major League roster out of Spring Training.
