According the Bureau of Labor Statistics, 2010-11, the predicted ongoing emphasis on preventative health care will continue to create new career opportunities in health care and industries related to health and wellness. The Bureau also foresees a growing need for health and wellness workers in workplaces and estimates that more than half of all workers will have access to a wellness program at their worksites. Among the reasons for the growing demand for wellness professions is the increasing acceptance of Complementary and Alternative Medicine. According to the 2007 National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine several mind and body practices ranked among the top complementary health approaches used by adults. The willingness of medical providers and insurance industries to recommend and cover the costs of wellness modalities is another growth factor encouraging the demand for wholistically-oriented health care.
