2nd draft: Revising for Form

Today in the computer lab you will be using the commands for Select, Copy, Cut, Paste, as well as deleting with the backspace key. These are the word processing tools for adding more details and description and building a repeating theme.

One hint on writing form is to identify your topic completely the first time in your main idea thesis sentence (for example, Garrett Lawrence Nicol, nickname Garry). After that, in each new paragraph you repeat the topic (Garry) in the sentence we call the topic sentence. Don't start a new paragraph with only he, she, his, or her because these pronouns signal to the reader that you are continuing to write about the same topic in the same paragraph. But you want to signal that you are writing a new topic in a new paragraph.

Another hint is that repeating the full name in the last sentence is a good trick to signal the end of the writing.

The best way to revise for form is to first open your saved file and then use Save as... to save it again under a different logical name (Tiffany interv 2, Khoi interv 2). Now you can make your changes on your new copy. This way if you run into problems, you can always go back to your original saved file.

By the end of class you should have two files: your new, improved classmate profile along with the old one. Always spell check and save the changes before you close your file. Use tab for your indents and put one space between words and between sentences. Do not put extra lines between paragraphs.

It is important to save your file on your USB drive because next week we will put a copy of your writing into an on-line peer review program called CPR.
