Getting Started

This web site will assist students during the semester to keep on track with weekly announcements, assignments, online quizzes, online grade checking, as well as receive homework help and participate in the discussion forum with other classmates. Students should click on all the "red buttons" located on the left to become famililar with the information contained in this web site. The legal industry offers exciting and challenging career opportunities that we will explore and discuss during the semester.

Introduction

Welcome to Skyline College's Paralegal Program and the Spring 2004 semester. At the college we offer a certificate and Associate of Arts Degree in Paralegal Studies that requires students to complete 18 units of core courses and 9 units of elective courses. Our program complies with the State of California standard established under the Business and Professional Code Section 6450-6456 for Paralegal/Legal Assistants. Students must complete 27 legal education units in order to graduate from the paralegal program.

Instructor

Dietra Prater Slack is a freelance paralegal with 25 years of legal experience working at law firms in the Bay Area. I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in Administration and Legal Processes, Legal Studies, from Mills College and I also hold a Master of Science in Education from California State University, Hayward.  I live in the East Bay in a small township of Castro Valley.  Personally, I enjoy cooking, gardening, and traveling with my husband Timothy Slack.
