Leading Questions...

  • guide Students to master vocabulary and strengthen concepts.
  • tend not to be yes/no or either/or questions, which are less likely to encourage Students to think.
  • tend to begin with how, what, why to encourage the Student to work with the material to be learned.

Some types of Leading Questions are:

  1. Name it: What do you call....
  2. Define it: What's the definition of...
  3. Explain it: How do you explain...
  4. Link it: How does that idea link to...
  5. Critique it: What's your opinion of...
  6. Relate it: What's the relevance of ...... to your life?
