The Prompt-Response Method
Leading Questions
Leading Questions...
- guide Students to master vocabulary and strengthen concepts.
- tend not to be yes/no or either/or questions, which are less likely
to encourage Students to think.
- tend to begin with how, what, why to encourage the Student to work with
the material to be learned.
Some types of Leading Questions are:
- Name it: What do you call....
- Define it: What's the definition of...
- Explain it: How do you explain...
- Link it: How does that idea link to...
- Critique it: What's your opinion of...
- Relate it: What's the relevance of ...... to your life?
Construct a verbal mnemonic to help
remember the six
types of Leading Questions. Share your mnemonic with other tutors in your program.
