Course Description
Yoga is an artform that can bring one's life balance, purpose, focus and happiness. The goal of this course is to expose students to the five most popular styles of yoga practice (Hatha Flow, Vinyasa, Astanga, Power, and Inyeagar; using written report for self-reflection.

Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to;
-- Understand the concepts of “functional neutral spine” to specifically target abdominal strength through body-awareness and practice.
-- Apply yoga meditation tecquiues to create inner calm and peace.
-- Through breathing work, control body functions, stress, heart rate, and limbic brain function.
-- Demonstrate 42 basic yoga poses with proper alignment.
-- Understand the concepts of disciplining the muscles of the body in coordination with the breath.

Course Structure
Course will start promptly at 12:35pm. Students that arrive later must enter the room quietly. A brief 5 minute lecture will be given on the history, vocabulary, philosophy of the yoga practice we are going to experince together. A 70-min group workout will be lead by the instructor. The instructor will make reasonable accommodations for students with disabilities. Please contact the DSPS office at 7-480 to ask how to qualify

-Water & Towel Yoga Brick and Strap

Grading Policy

1) Attendance, participation, a written assignments are mandatory. Your grade will be based upon these three factors. Attendance, written reports, and group demo. This includes the fitness testing program.

2) You must inform me by February 4th 2008 about which grade option you want.
