Introduction

Hidden Canyon Park is Part of the Open Space and trail system managed by the City of Belmont. It is possible to hike from Water Dog Lake to Hidden Canyon Park. What makes Hidden Canyon interesting is the diversity of shrub vegetation and forest growing on slopes in alternating patches due to slope aspect.

One rare plant that grows at Hidden Canyon is Leatherwood – Dirca occidentalis, which only occurs in the Bay Area counties, nowhere else in the state.
