III. LESSON 3: KEY POINTS TO REMEMBER

* A reference source is an information source that’s designed to be referred to for pieces of information, rather than read cover to cover. Libraries keep print reference sources in a separate room or area called the Reference Collection.

* There are 2 types of reference sources:

* self-contained
* “where to find it” reference sources

* Encyclopedias are invaluable during steps 2 and 3 of the research process.

* There are 2 types of encyclopedias: general and subject.
