EVALUATING WEB PAGES

Assignment:

1. Each individual student should select one web page you found for Assignment 7 and write an evaluation of this page using the criteria and guidelines explained in your reading. (See example listed above.)

2. Each student should send your web page evaluation plus the title & URL (please include the complete address beginning with: http:// ) to the other members of your team and also submit them to me (brenner@smcccd.cc.ca.us)

3. Team members should look at the web pages and evaluations sent by others on your team and give each other feedback on what you thought of the pages selected by the other members of your team and on the evaluations of the pages. Each member should identify at least one positive and one negative point about each of the pages.

Preparation for Team Presentations (in class on 3/21):

Each team should be prepared to briefly discuss:

• Research question
• Search worksheet (concepts and search terms, including any additional search terms you found in the process of your research)
• Comparison of the 3 databases (InfoTrac Academic ASAP, WilsonWeb OmniFile, Proquest Newspapers) and the Web search tools in terms of finding useful information on your topics
• A few key ideas and points you discovered about your research question

I will create simple web pages summarizing the research of each team that you can use during your presentation. To create these pages, each team needs to discuss and e-mail me by Monday, March 20:

• Your team's list of best 3 articles from InfoTrac Academic ASAP and from WilsonWeb OmniFile, best 2 articles from Proquest Newspapers and best 4 web pages (including URL's) found in Assignment #7. These should be the same as you posted on the discussion board.
• One or two ideas, points or quotes from at least one of your selected articles or web pages
