Materials:
You will need a TI-83+ or TI-84 graphing
calculator both for this class and Math 200 (Statistics).
You will also need to purchase a license for StatCrunch (follow the link or buy a license in the bookstore).
For written assignments (papers) you will need to type the paper and send it to me as an attachment (.pdf or .doc). If you need a word processor for home use you might consider Open Office.
Prerequisite:
Appropriate
score on placement test or completion of Math 811.

There are two texts
for Path to Statistics. The class text and the online text.
The physical book is composed of materials compiled or written by Los Medanos, College, Cuyamaca College, or through a Carnegie Foundation grant.
Math 190 Text
You can purchase the hard copy of the book in the Skyline Bookstore.
The online book is provided through the Open Learning Initiative and available by signing up through OLI. Click the link above and then click the Sign Up link on the OLI home page. The Course Key for this class is math190s20, copy and paste this key when you sign up.

It is essential that you attempt and complete
all assignments in the class. In the process of working the
problems you will develop all the skills that will see you
though college.

Tutoring:
Office hours. Either during my posted office
hours or by arrangement, you should come to see me for help.
The people in your class know the most about what you are
studying and therefore make the best sources of help. Please
try to find other student in the class to study with and please
come to see me if you have any questions.
The
Learning Center (TLC) is an outstanding resource for tutoring
in all of your classes.
You should visit TLC at the slightest sign of confusion or
just as a place to sit and work in a supportive environment. The Learning Center staff is well
trained and dedicated solely to your success, so don't waste
this resource!

available in the TLC, on DVD (ask me) and online.

Grading Information:
Homework, Quizzes, Projects, in–class assignments, Quizzes: (50%)
3-4 Tests (35%)
Final (15%)
I will drop your worst test score (Not the
final). There will be no makeup tests. If you are late for
a test you will have only the remaining time to complete the
test (so don't be late). If you know you are going to miss
a test date, contact me at least three days in advance and
we can arrange an alternate test.
I will drop your worst quiz. There will be no makeup quizzes.
I will excuse two homework scores (or drop your lowest scores if you submit all of them). I will excuse up to four late assignments provided you (1) meet with me to go over them and (2) submit them before any test covering their content.
