OUTCOMES: Ace the midterm; give and receive constructive feedback

Work on your third essay. Staple the essay cover letter (Reader 12) to the essay and the two blue peer response sheets.

From The Madonnas of Echo Park, read and annotate xiii- 70. For three of the four chapters (which includes the “Author’s Note”), complete a journal, choosing from among the options in your Reader, 18. Indicate which chapter you’re writing about.

Optional: Revisions of essay #2 are due by Monday, April 30th. You must meet with me if you plan to revise. Highlight major additions on your revision, and submit it with the original and the gradesheet.

OUTCOMES: Analyze the issues raised in the novel; work on your group presentation. newInterchange Transcript

From The Madonnas of Echo Park, read and annotate 71- 149. For three of the four chapters, complete a journal, choosing from among the options in your Reader, 18. Indicate which chapter you’re writing about;

From your Reader, read 20- 21. Be prepared to generate themes that the novel addresses and to create a timeline.

Work on your group presentation;

Optional: Revisions of essay #2 are due by Monday, April 30th. You must meet with me if you plan to revise. Highlight major additions on your revision, and submit it with the original and the gradesheet.

OUTCOMES: Analyze the issues raised in the novel; code chapters; generate themes addressed in the novel; work on your group presentation.

From The Madonnas of Echo Park, finish the book, and complete your last journal, choosing from among the options in your Reader, 18;

From your Reader, read 22- 24, and 4. On a separate page, complete 4, brainstorming at least three themes, and generating at least three draft thesis statements. Bring a copy to receive credit and still have a copy for your own reference.

Commit to one of your thesis statements and generate an outline. Minimally, generate the topic sentences; first generate questions from your thesis statement, and then answer them. Each of those answers may work well as topic sentences. You also may want to note the page numbers of the quotes you plan to include;
 

Work on your group presentation.

OUTCOMES: Analyze the issues raised in the novel; generate and evaluate thesis statements; generate topic sentences from thesis statements; work on your group presentation.

Review “PIE” paragraphs in your Reader, 5-6;

Bring three copies total of your 2.5 page rough draft.

Work on your presentation.

OUTCOMES: Develop paragraphs use the PIE strategy; give and receive constructive feedback; work on your group presentation.

Submit your last essay with your essay cover letter (Reader 12) and two blue peer response sheets;

Complete your participation log and your group evaluation worksheets;

If you’re using Powerpoint for your presentation, send me a copy by noon as an attachment to wongk@smccd.edu. Our final exam is scheduled for Monday from 7-10—please come on time to receive full credit and to be considerate of your classmates who are scheduled to present first.

newOptional: Revise your third essay. (If you simply resubmit the graded essay, then I assume that you don't plan on revising.) Highlight all major additions and changes on your revision, and submit it with the original graded essay and gradesheet. It's due on Friday by 1 pm, but if you submit it with a self addressed stamped MANILA envelope, then you may turn it in next Monday evening.
